I am interested in creating work that deals with documentation in both a historical and invented way. My paintings are constructed by combining my own recollections of familiar and intimate spaces with found imagery, historical reference, film and literature. Time and memory play a key role in my quest for understanding my own origins, while simultaneously embracing the role of a transplant. Through exploration of landscape in a nostalgic way, I search for the links between identity and nativity. By assuming the role of outsider, my narratives create a desire for the local in an increasingly globalized world.

"The delicate color palette and aerial stroke quality of Winger’s paintings transpose us in an ethereal space where emptiness and presence permeate the atmosphere. The emotional quality of the work resonates with our intimate memories while intertwining with Winger’s representation of her personal reminiscences" Vanessa Mayoraz, ETSU. Poetics of Memory, Slocumb Gallery, Johnson City, TN.
